Q29 – Quilt - Twist

Early Morning,

Twist is a patchwork quilt we found of a pattern from the book Best-Loved Quilt Patterns published in 1991 by Oxmoor House, Inc. Alabama. As described it is also known by many other names including Twisted Rope and Plaited Block. It is created with repetition of a simple two-block set: an octagon block and a block created with a square and rectangles.

Our choice of the close shade of blue fabric colors mutes the effect of the twisted strips. The counter-balanced light yellow fabric highlights the octagon centers and subsequently lends to a feeling of “bordered plates”. The backing is a light, cloud-effect blue.

This quilt is a large queen-size quilt and belongs to a private collection.

To see previously posted quilts, type any Q# coding in the search box at the upper left-hand on my Blog page; to date Q1 through Q29. I have also created a new visual presentation at the bottom of my blog page. Move your cursor over any mini-picture found there and click to see an enlargement. Move your cursor to the "Q#" link to see the quilt's details. If the quilts title is highlighted in yellow, it has found a home in a collection.

If you are interested, and would like some more information of the available quilts, regarding costs, shipping, and insurance, please get in touch with me at our Quilts SB Etsy shop.

Stay-tuned for Q30. The next quilts will include some created with fabric by 3 Sisters.

Enjoy,

Jim and Andy
