Q81 - She's Here - Quilt

Greetings,

Our newest addition to our Portfolio of completed Quilts – She’s Here. (In truth, She’s almost here… Baby J is scheduled to arrive In May.) And She’s Here has arrived at its new home in Wilmington, Delaware.

She’s Here is our 82nd addition to our Quilt Portfolio. It’s measurements are: Width – 37” (94 cms) and Length – 48” (122 cms).

The colourwash approach creates a gradual interplay of the colors and shades of white, pink, grey, and slate-blue. All seven fabrics and batting are 100%cotton and were obtained through Fabric.com. Thanks R for the suggestion of the pinks and greys.

Here are a number of images of She’s Here; front, close-ups, and back. Please note that the colors of this quilt may be affected somewhat by the outdoor lighting and the quality of my picture taking.

The perimeter of She’s Here is a “fanciful” border of Prairie Points. The border is of folded-squares reconstructed into triangles. These are also called Prairie Points. They are added after the quilting is completed. The quilting is a series of horizontal and parallel lines.

Our finished quilt is a size adaptation of a Dierdre Amsden design, published in her 1994 book Colourwash Quilts: A Personal Approach to Design & Technique. I re-constructed the size of Amsden’s design because I felt that this quilt should be a wee bit larger than that of a doll’s bassinet.

Check out our currently available quilts at Quilts SB Etsy.

To see previously posted quilts, there is a visual Grid presentation at the bottom of the Quilts SB page. Move your cursor over any mini-picture found there and click to see an enlargement. Move your cursor to the "Q#" link to see the quilt's details. If the quilt’s title is highlighted in yellow or in red, it has found a home in a collection and is no longer available.

If you are interested, and would like some more information of any available quilts, regarding costs, shipping, and insurance, please check our Quilts SB Etsy.

If you have any questions and/or comments please feel free to get in touch with me via email.

We are currently working on and designing 10 more new quilts. (See My Quip.) Stay tuned for updates.

Enjoy,

Jim and Andy
