Andy and I would like to introduce to you to our newest and 145th quilt – Hope Cures!.
Hope Cures! - JS AB - August 2016 |
Hope Cures! is our commemoration to the celebration of the 25th Anniversary of the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation.
Earlier in June Melissa Helms of Keep Me In Stitches (KMIS) and one of the founding members of the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation (NPCF) asked Andy and me if we would be willing to design a quilt on behalf of the 25th Anniversary. Our immediate response was “Yes”.
Hope Cures! is our expression of the hope, research, support and cure that exists because of the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation to children as they begin and progress upward through their journey in response to this dreaded disease.
Hope Cures! is a queen size quilt with the dimensions of 82” (208 cms) wide by 91” (231 cms). We created each one of the 12 individual NPCF logo coronas. The 288 rays of the logo coronas were each cut from a die we created using the AccuQuilt Go! Big. (This was a first for Andy and me.)
We used our domestic sewing machine, a Janome Memory Craft 6300. Janome has created a new machine, the Janome NPCF50. Keep Me In Stitches and Janome America, Inc will donate a portion of the proceeds from every machine sold to the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation.
Andy and I were privileged to design and construct Hope Cures! on behalf of this great organization.
Hope Cures! was delivered on August 31, 2016.
And as always it is easier to say it in pictures.
