My Quip - TBD Update

Good Day,

TDB Update -

Panel #1(of 9) has been pieced. When finished it will be approximately 70" long.

Also, as you can see from Panel #1, Andy and I have been picking the colors. We are using Robert Kaufman Kona Solids.

Oh yeah, I was asked what the SB in Quilts SB stood for. S - Smith; B - Brunhammer. (And yes JA, it's better than bs.)

My Quip – “TDB” Update

Good Day,

Andy and I have been working on our new TBD quilt. Our design has been transferred to a muslin canvas.

TBD -  JS AB - Canvas under construction

The canvas is approximately 60”wide and 70”long. We have created 9 panels.

We are working on how to piece strips. Yes, we are not appliquéing. We are going to try a piece all strips. Each strip will be, sewn; 2” wide and all strips will be of varying heights.

We have been testing colors. We have decided upon 1 color at this point, it is Robert Kaufman Kona Solid Titanium Grey.

My Quip - A New Quilt Project Named "TBD"

Good Day,

Andy and I have begun another new quilt project. - TBD

All our details are to be determined.  We have committed to our original design and as usual, the dining room, the living room, and the sewing rooms are beginning to look like the compartments of a new sweat shop. (No pun intended regarding the Florida weather.)

We are creating our new TBD with a purpose.

Our TBD is a new experiment. We are trying to create pieced panels, and are proposing 10 panels which eventually we hope to construct a final piece that is approximately 60" wide and 70" long.

We have chosen the brand of fabrics, Robert Kaufman Kona Solids.

Our images are of our test and sample work.

My Quip - A New Triptych - Wings - Next Decisions

Good Day,

Our new quilt triptych Wings is coming along like a bat, I mean, a butterfly in some belfry. (What do you expect for this early in the morning?)

Wings - In progress - JS AB
All 3 panels have been quilted and are now trimmed.

As this has been a design and a work in progress, Andy and I have created a quilt where we have applied techniques that are new and definitely different to anything we have done.  We are also experimenting as we transform our initial draft(s) on paper to fabric.

We are now at the stage where we are trying to decide whether to bind, face, and/or frame and in actually what choice of fabric and color.

Many have been following our progress at various social media sites.

We have received a good many suggestions.

As always, once completed I will be presenting and posting a complete write-up with details of our Wings journey.

And if you have any questions, thoughts, comments and/or ideas for Andy and me please feel free to contact us at Quilts SB - email - jsmith58@gmail.com.

Definitely enjoy,

Jim and Andy
