My Quip - A New Quilt, She's Here - Prairie Points

Good Day,

The progress of getting our new quilts done and worked on seems to be speeding up. She’s Here, our version of a Deirdre Amsden design is well on the way to being completed.

Amsden’s design results in a quilt with the dimensions – Width-24” (61 cms) and Length-32” (81 cms). I have increased the specifications to an approximate – Width-37” (94 cms) and Length-48” (122 cms). It’s like adding just a bit more than a foot (30.5 cms) in each direction.

The border is of folded-squares reconstructed into triangles. These are also called Prairie Points. They are added after the quilting is completed.

Dierdre Amsden’s 1994 book is Colourwash Quilts: A Personal Approach to Design & Technique. It can be found available on the Internet via Amazon.com and on Etsy.

Stay-tuned for progress updates. Check out our current available quilts at Quilts SB Etsy. Also scroll down any page in our Quilts SB Blog to our Grid. You will see a portfolio of all our finished quilts and wall hangings. If you have any questions and/or comments please feel free to get in touch with me via email.

Enjoy,

Jim and Andy
