My Quip - Update - A New Series - The E-20s

Good Day,

Yes, even with the holidays upon us we've been working on a new series of quilts; our E-20 series.

Originally the series was going to be a pair. Now the duo may/has become a trio.

Our designs, ES-20 (left) and ET-20 (right) are only partially visible. (We do not want to reveal everything at this point of time.)

Each quilt, without border or binding included will be approximately 32 2-inch squares wide and 42 2-inch squares long. A quick calculation, but please do not hold us to it, 64” wide and 84” long.

To date we have cut the pieces, and then we ran out of fabric of a couple of the colorways. Fabrics are Robert Kaufman Kona solids; 8 shades of Green and 1 of Oyster. We’re just waiting delivery of the order of the Robert Kaufman Kona fabrics, especially the Oyster one.

The designs are complementary to each other as well as we’re going to be trying something almost different in our quilting. The quilting design is underway.  We're really excited about our preliminary quilting design.

ES-20 and ET-20, the first two have already been spoken for, and they will be offered up in auctions at two charitable events in the new year. The third, well?

Here is an image of the first 26 strips for ES-20. We’ve included a side-by-side to our original design.

Q146 – Blue Hearts – A New Quilt

Good Day,

Today we completed our newest and latest quilt, number 146, Blue Hearts.

Blue Hearts - JS AB - November 2016
And Blue Hearts is off to its new home in Florida.

The dimensions of Blue Hearts are 86” wide by 86” long. The top and the back are constructed of 100% cotton. The batting is washable wool. The creative request was to “please make this quilt warm.”

All “heart” squares are 4 ½” sewn. The construction of Blue Hearts includes 36 foursomes of hearts and 7 rows inset with 7 single hearts.

We borrowed the design of this pattern from Cindy Carter (©Cindy Carter 2011) who has provided various pattern sizes of the Scrappy Four Patch Heart Quilt. Thank you, Cindy.

Here are our additional images.

Q145 – Hope Cures! – A New Quilt

Good Day,

Andy and I would like to introduce to you to our newest and 145th quilt – Hope Cures!.

Hope Cures! - JS AB - August 2016

Hope Cures! is our commemoration to the celebration of the 25th Anniversary of the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation.

Earlier in June Melissa Helms of Keep Me In Stitches (KMIS) and one of the founding members of the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation (NPCF) asked Andy and me if we would be willing to design a quilt on behalf of the 25th Anniversary. Our immediate response was “Yes”.

Hope Cures! is our expression of the hope, research, support and cure that exists because of the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation to children as they begin and progress upward through their journey in response to this dreaded disease.

Hope Cures! is a queen size quilt with the dimensions of 82” (208 cms) wide by 91” (231 cms). We created each one of the 12 individual NPCF logo coronas. The 288 rays of the logo coronas were each cut from a die we created using the AccuQuilt Go! Big. (This was a first for Andy and me.)

We used our domestic sewing machine, a Janome Memory Craft 6300. Janome has created a new machine, the Janome NPCF50. Keep Me In Stitches and Janome America, Inc will donate a portion of the proceeds from every machine sold to the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation.

Andy and I were privileged to design and construct Hope Cures! on behalf of this great organization.

Hope Cures! was delivered on August 31, 2016.

And as always it is easier to say it in pictures.
