Q161 - Spring Wakes - In Fredericton, New Brunswick

Good Day,

Andy and I would like to introduce you to our 161st quilt -

Spring Wakes

Spring Wakes

June 2019

Spring Wakes has traveled from Tampa, Florida, USA to a wonderful new little boy in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada.

Spring Wakes began when we heard about the upcoming birth of a brand new addition to the family. The excitement of the fathers was/is electric.

The dimensions of Spring Wakes are 42" wide and 47" long. The fabrics of the Harlequin background are Kona Cotton, available through Fabric.com and the fabrics used for the bouquet of Daffodils are Batiks from Sew Batik.

The Harlequin diamonds of the background were cut using an AccuQuilt template. All were pieced to created the background.

The Daffodil bouquet was drawn and then transferred to the Batik fabric to create the individual pieces and parts of the flowers. The Daffodils were appliquéd to the background using a zigzag stitch with Janome 6600We then thread-painted the flower details, again using our Janome 6600.

It happens that the ideas for the daffodils is from the wall paintings and decorations of daffodils in the new son's room as created by the fathers.
