Q23 – Quilt – Trip Around The World

Early Morning,

This next quilt is patterned for a very reliable pattern "Trip Around The World". The earliest time frame I can find as to the origins of this pattern dates to the Civil War through the 1890s. All-things-being-equal this pattern could have been around from much earlier times. The pattern is a repetition of equal sized squares. The fabrics chosen for this quilt include a blend of floral prints in a gradation of shades. Our quilt dimensions were that of one that would provide an accent to either a full or queen size bed.

We donated this quilt, one of our first efforts, to the National Foundation For Women Legislators, for an event at their Annual Conference a few years back. It was graciously received, by Florida House Representative Faye B. Culp.

Q22 – Quilt – White River Rafting

Today’s first quilt is an original design of a variation on bargello techniques, a blending of colors and quilting, obviously, that lends to the effect of a river, of sorts. (That is, in my mind’s eye…) Hence we named it White River Rafting, but there’s nary a raft.

Dimensions: Length - 66" (168 cms); Width – 49" (125 cms). This is wall quilt, and based on your druthers, it could be hung in any direction.

To see previously posted quilts, type any Q# coding in the search box at the upper left-hand on my Blog page; to date Q1 through Q22. Q21 – Quilt – Christmas Day

Morning,

Today's quilt is the last of our Christmas quilts made for this year. We call it Christmas Day. The two incorporated techniques of strip-quilting and scrap work remind me of the morning of Christmas day after the presents all around the tree have been opened. This is a very thick and warm quilt as we made it with four layers instead of a norm of three. That is, the top, a layer of muslin, the batting, and the backing. The strips of Christmas scrap work, fabric, are first sewn to the muslin layer. It is then placed together with the backing and the batting to form the quilt sandwich.

Dimensions: Length - 90 ½" (230 cms); Width – 55 ½" (141 cms). This is most definitely a holiday accent quilt, but it will guarantee to keep you warm.

To see previously posted quilts, type any Q# coding in the search box at the upper left-hand on my Blog page; to date Q1 through Q21. Q20 – Quilt – Noel Red Coins

Sister quilt: Noel Red Coins.

This quilt is named for the red holly background fabric and the stacked coins. The backing fabric is green. It is a perfect complement to its sister Noel Green Coins, Q19.

Dimensions: Length, 87½ inches (222 cms); Width, 69 inches (175 cms). This quilt and the other Coin quilts may fit twin beds and would be great accents for Holiday decorations.

Q19 – Quilt - Noel Green Coins

Afternoon,

And now I can put up some more of the Christmas quilts as I promised a while ago.

The first one today is Noel Green Coins. This is a sister quilt to Christmas Holly & Coins, at Q18. The next quilt of the series is Noel Red Coins. And both are available.

Please excuse the fact that there is no snow outside to enhance the upcoming seasonal spirit. This quilt, Noel Green Coins is based on an old quilting pattern named Stacked Coins. The main difference between this one and Christmas Holly & Coins is that the "coin" fabrics in Christmas Holly & Coins are somewhat deeper in shades of the color red.

Dimensions: Length, 87½ inches (222 cms); Width, 70 inches (178 cms).

Q18 - Quilt - Christmas Holly & Coins

Christmas is a-comin', the goose is gettin' fat,
Please put a penny in the poor-man's hat!

Afternoon. Just take a gander, (sorry...) at the counter at the bottom of my posting today.

And just think you can get a Christmas quilt... but not this one. This one is already taken and is in a collection. But I can say that it has two other sister quilts, very similar and of the same design. The Christmas fabrics are somewhat different. And of course the actual image files are on my "to-be-fixed hard drive". But the actual sister quilts are here in the house.

This quilt is Christmas Holly & Coins.

The pattern is a variation of an old quilting pattern Stacked Coins. When designing these sister quilts I wanted the stack of coins to also trigger thoughts of stacked presents. Successful? Maybe.

Dimensions: Length, 87½ inches (222 cms); Width, 70 inches (178 cms).

Thanks to B & J for the pictures.

Q17 - Quilt - Wedding Enchantment

Afternoon,

Wedding Enchantment was made this year. It was made as an accent with pillows for a queen size bed, to compliment the newlyweds' room decor and collection.

The idea was borrowed but we recreated the design to tender a classic and up-to-date mood for today's contemporary look.

Q15 – Quilt – Christmas Harlequin Plus

Afternoon,

I am ready to put up some more quilts on the Blog, especially with the Christmas season closing in, right around the corner. The new one is sort of related to Christmas Harlequin. You'll note that we've used similar fabrics, with the addition of some others. And this one we named, Christmas Harlequin Plus.

This is another one of our original designs and is one of a series that we created. (Christmas Harlequin Classic, the third of the series is to follow in my next posting.)

Dimensions – Width: 55" (140 cm) and Length: 63" (160 cm). This could be considered a lap or throw/accent quilt, which definitely compliments its pair, Christmas Harlequin.

If you are interested, and would like some more information of the available quilts, regarding costs, shipping, and insurance, please get in touch with me at our Quilts SB Etsy shop.

Q14 - Quilt - Christmas Cosine

Here's Christmas Cosine. It is the Christmas version of Beige Bargello quilt at Q12.

I am intrigued by the technique of bargello especially when I learned the interplay of lengths of yarn creating it in needlepoint, some moons ago. (It sort of helped stir the grey matter of my geometry and trigonometry classes from the distant past.) The 16 Christmas fabrics are graduated by size and by the holiday colors of red, green and white tones and are sewn together to create a cosine curve.

Dimensions - Width: 57" (147 cm) and Length: 80" (203 cm). This quilt can accent a room as a throw on a sofa or chair, or a bed during the holiday season.

If you are interested, and would like some more information of the available quilts, regarding costs, shipping, and insurance, please get in touch with me at our Quilts SB Etsy shop.

To see previously posted quilts, type Q1 through Q13 in the search box on the Blog page.
