Q92 – Twisted Basket - Quilt

Good Day,

A new quilt has been completed… and it is completely different. Twisted Basket is our new quilt. (And of course Radar has to check out what is going on.)

The dimensions of Twisted Basket are: Length – 75” (191 cms); Width – 55” (140 cms). It is somewhere between an Afghan and Lap Size quilt.

We have adapted and based our Twisted Basket on Kimberly Einmo’s Braided Links design from her book Jelly Roll Quilts & More, AQS 2010. The multi-colored fabrics included are from a Moda Dream On Jelly Roll designed by Urban Chiks. The sashing and the backing are of two complimentary fabrics of light yellow/beige and of an olive green with white polka dots. The sashing is called Squares on Point as presented in Janet Kime’s book The Border Workbook, AQS, 1997.

The construction of Twisted Basket is a variation on a Log Cabin block. Per Kimberly “This Log Cabin block variation begins in the corner instead of the center of the block…” We created 30 blocks and rotated each adjoining block by 90°. The effect of the sashing bordering the blocks is to give a woven basket effect. Our quilting is a play on horizontal, vertical, and radiating lines.

Here are more images of Twisted Basket.

We are always looking for new designs and quilt challenges. If you are interested in commissioning your quilt please contact us.

Check out Twisted Basket and our currently available quilts at Quilts SB Etsy.

Also check out my new experimental format of my Blog, Quilts SB Test. Certainly would appreciate your feedback.

To see previously posted quilts, there is a visual Grid presentation at the bottom of the Quilts SB page. Move your cursor over any mini-picture found there and click to see an enlargement. Move your cursor to the "Q#" link to see the quilt's details. If the quilt’s title is highlighted in yellow or in red, it has found a home in a collection and is no longer available.

If you are interested, and would like some more information of available quilts, regarding costs, shipping, and insurance, please check our Quilts SB Etsy shop.

If you have any questions and/or comments please feel free to get in touch with me via email.

Enjoy,
