My Quip – TBD Update – Hell Yes, We’ve Scrapped Our Original Construction Approach

Good Day,

Yes, Andy and I are continuing to work and design, and design and work on our new TBD quilt. And we have scrapped our original construction approach.

Just so you have may a quick look this is where we were. Not anymore.

TDB - The 1st - JS AB

And we will be using what we have already put together in another quilt design and project.

We have started all over again with our project, TBD.

TDB - The 2nd - JS AB

Our intent is now to create a strip-puzzle. You ask “What the hell is that?” Hey, we’re inventing as we go along. We still have the intent of presenting our thoughts and feelings in our new quilt.

My Quip - TBD - 3rd Panel Pieced

Good Day,

TBD Update - The 3rd panel has been pieced. This was the toughest to strip piece so far.

Now on to the 4th panel; 13+ new colors and the Titanium Grey strips required.

We can now see that a thread highlight will be necessary to expand on our thought design.

My Quip - TBD Update - 2nd Panel Pieced

Good Day,

TBD Update - 2nd Panel of pieced strips completed.

Andy and I are pleased that TBD is progressing in the direction that we thought our design would be headed.

And here's one of our thoughts; apart from the background color and the Titanium Grey strips, our objective is not to repeat another color. We're using Robert Kaufman Kona Solids.

My Quip - TBD Update

Good Day,

TDB Update -

Panel #1(of 9) has been pieced. When finished it will be approximately 70" long.

Also, as you can see from Panel #1, Andy and I have been picking the colors. We are using Robert Kaufman Kona Solids.

Oh yeah, I was asked what the SB in Quilts SB stood for. S - Smith; B - Brunhammer. (And yes JA, it's better than bs.)

My Quip – “TDB” Update

Good Day,

Andy and I have been working on our new TBD quilt. Our design has been transferred to a muslin canvas.

TBD -  JS AB - Canvas under construction

The canvas is approximately 60”wide and 70”long. We have created 9 panels.

We are working on how to piece strips. Yes, we are not appliquéing. We are going to try a piece all strips. Each strip will be, sewn; 2” wide and all strips will be of varying heights.

We have been testing colors. We have decided upon 1 color at this point, it is Robert Kaufman Kona Solid Titanium Grey.

My Quip - A New Quilt Project Named "TBD"

Good Day,

Andy and I have begun another new quilt project. - TBD

All our details are to be determined.  We have committed to our original design and as usual, the dining room, the living room, and the sewing rooms are beginning to look like the compartments of a new sweat shop. (No pun intended regarding the Florida weather.)

We are creating our new TBD with a purpose.

Our TBD is a new experiment. We are trying to create pieced panels, and are proposing 10 panels which eventually we hope to construct a final piece that is approximately 60" wide and 70" long.

We have chosen the brand of fabrics, Robert Kaufman Kona Solids.

Our images are of our test and sample work.
